Daniel Gossett MD – Full Bio

Dr. Gossett didn’t always plan to become a neurologist. Before medical school, he was a teacher, a soccer referee, a judo coach, a wedding photographer, and a pizza-delivery boy. He has travelled to over 25 countries on 5 continents—and even worked overseas on a communal farm for a year, mostly milking cows in the dairy. What tied it all together was an endless curiosity and a love of learning and problem-solving.

That’s what led him to medicine. And eventually, to pediatric neurology.

After college, he moved to Dallas to attend the prestigious UT Southwestern Medical School, where he continued his studies in General Pediatrics residency and Child Neurology fellowship. He then completed a Pediatric Epilepsy fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Since returning to North Texas, Dr. Gossett has continued to explore. He helped to design and build the Epilepsy Center at Children’s Health Plano, where he served as the inaugural medical director. He taught EEG technologist students as the Medical Director of a Neurodiagnostics Technologist school. He developed the pediatric division of an adult neurology group, helping to adapt the existing infrastructure for pediatric use. He even developed and led the first specialty clinic providing life-saving enzyme replacement therapy for children with Batten’s Disease.

As a fellowship-trained and board-certified Pediatric Epileptologist, Dr. Gossett’s primary focus is the diagnosis and treatment of seizures and epilepsy. However, he has become well-known and respected for his child-centric and results-focused approach to treating ADHD, Anxiety, Tics and Tourette’s and symptoms associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder. His universal approach is to work with children and their parents to identify and lower barriers s that the children can live their lives.

Outside the clinic, Dan lives in Allen with his wife, two daughters, and a rescue dog who thinks he runs the place. When he’s not answering questions from small humans (his own or his patients), he’s probably reading something nerdy, practicing some odd new hobby, or planning his next travel adventure. He’s still chasing curiosity—just with a stethoscope now.
